Legislative Advocacy and Regulatory Guidance
Our team has played a key role in shaping important tourism legislation and regulations in Puerto Rico. We have been instrumental in drafting and advocating for laws such as the Tourism Development Act of 1993 and its regulations (which provide incentives for new and existing tourism projects), the Timeshare and Vacation Clubs Act and related regulations (facilitating the development of timeshare and vacation club projects), the Tourism Development Districts Act of 1998 (enabling the creation of special tourism districts), and the latest amendments to the Gaming Act (updating casino laws and regulations).
Transaction Support and Financing Expertise
Our firm has extensive experience representing both borrowers and lenders in major transactions involving hotel and resort properties, including construction and acquisition financings, debt restructuring, mortgage foreclosures, asset resolution, and loan workouts.
