Biography

Javier J. Álvarez-Dávila joined the firm in 2023 as an associate attorney in the Corporate Department.  Javier’s practice focuses on several aspects of corporate law including licensing, corporate compliance, commencement of operations, mergers and acquisitions, telecommunications and advertising, intellectual property, sports, entertainment, and principal – distributor relations.

Javier has developed an interest and particular experience in the corporate intellectual property and entertainment law fields.  While at law school, he represented artists and entertainers in pro bono work, working with the Ella Project in New Orleans and the Legal Art Link in Miami. In these roles, he worked in identifying copyright clearance issues among other matters.  Javier also interned for Inter Miami Club de Fútbol, assisting the general counsel with sponsorship contracts and general intellectual property matters.  After his LLM graduation, Javier worked with a boutique intellectual property law firm in Miami, Florida in aspects related to trademarks, copyrights and corporate governance matters. Javier was a recipient of the University of Miami Law Harold F. Flegelman Award and served as the Tulane University Law Latinx Society Vice President.

While at O’Neill & Borges, Javier has taken part in various corporate mergers and acquisition transactions involving industrial laundry services, energy, newspaper, and professional service entities. Javier was also an integral part of one of the first Name, Image, and Likeness (“NIL”) deals for college athletes in Puerto Rico’s history. He has experience with copyright registrations, placing liens on trademarks, and advising music marketing companies in collection matters. Moreover, Javier has been supporting clients with Act 75 matters.
