NEW COVID-19 CURFEW AND BUSINESS OPERATION RULES

Puerto Rico Governor Pedro R. Pierluisi announced today in his State Address that in light of the recent spike in COVID-19 cases on the Island, he will issue a new Executive Order modifying the COVID-19 curfew rules to reduce the spread of the virus. The Executive Order will go into effect Friday, April 9, 2021.

The most relevant changes mentioned by Governor Pierluisi are the following:

  1. Curfew hours will start at 10:00 pm.
  2. Businesses will be allowed to operate until 9:00 pm.
  3. The vaccination process will be open to all people over 16 years old beginning on April 12.
  4. Any event that may cause the gathering of crowds will require a previous authorization from the government.

Please note that this information may vary and will ultimately depend on the actual Executive Order that is approved and published by the Puerto Rico Governor.  We expect the Executive Order to be published at any time tomorrow.
