Biography
Salvador J. Antonetti-Stutts is a Member of the Litigation Department at O’Neill & Borges LLC. With more than two decades of experience in commercial and appellate litigation in Puerto Rico, he represents clients before the Puerto Rico courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Courts of Appeals. His practice encompasses commercial and securities arbitration as well as disputes involving antitrust, trade regulation, insurance, franchise and distribution law, and other complex business matters.
Recognized by Chambers Global and Chambers Latin America every year since 2010, Mr. Antonetti has been described as “an outstanding lawyer due to how he thinks and writes, as well as his knowledge of the law.” His broad practice combines deep analytical skill with strategic advocacy, earning him consistent recognition among leading litigators in Puerto Rico. He has appeared and argued dozens of cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, the Puerto Rico Supreme Court, and the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals, cementing his reputation as a respected appellate advocate.
Before joining O’Neill & Borges in 2008, Mr. Antonetti served as Solicitor General of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico (2005–2008), where he supervised all litigation on behalf of the Commonwealth before the U.S. and Puerto Rico Supreme Courts and multiple U.S. Courts of Appeals. Earlier, he directed the Department of Justice’s Federal Litigation Division, overseeing the defense of the Commonwealth and its officers in civil-rights actions, and practiced commercial litigation in private firms. His judicial foundation includes clerkships with the Hon. Antonio S. Negrón-García of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court, the Hon. Daniel R. Domínguez of the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and the Hon. Juan R. Torruella, then-Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Mr. Antonetti holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago (1994) and a B.A. from Harvard University (1991). He is admitted to practice in Puerto Rico, the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the First and District of Columbia Circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
A Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and of the Federal Bar Association Foundation, Mr. Antonetti also serves as Puerto Rico State Chair of the Supreme Court Historical Society and on the Rules Advisory Committee of the First Circuit. He is a past President of the Puerto Rico Chapter of the Federal Bar Association and has taught Legal Research and Writing and Government Litigation as an adjunct professor at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law.
