Biography
José J. Colón-García is a Member of the Litigation Department at O’Neill & Borges LLC, where he represents both plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil and appellate litigation in Puerto Rico. His practice spans a wide range of civil, commercial, and constitutional matters before the Puerto Rico courts and the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, combining rigorous legal analysis with clear, persuasive advocacy.
Before joining the firm in 2020, Mr. Colón García served as a law clerk to Chief Justice Maite D. Oronoz Rodríguez of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court, where he assisted in drafting judicial opinions on novel constitutional and statutory issues. His clerkship experience deepened his understanding of judicial reasoning and appellate procedure, skills that continue to inform his litigation practice today.
Mr. Colón García graduated magna cum laude from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, where he served as Associate Director of the Revista Jurídica de la Universidad de Puerto Rico and co-authored “Responsabilidad Civil Extracontractual”, 87 Rev. Jur. UPR 601 (2018). He earned his B.A. in Social Studies from Harvard University and is admitted to practice in Puerto Rico, the U.S. District Court for the District of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
