Julio Pietrantoni
Julio Pietrantoni is a Senior Counsel in the Corporate Department at O’Neill & Borges LLC and one of Puerto Rico’s most experienced corporate and finance attorneys. He joined the Firm in 1999 as a partner after practicing as a partner at a leading Puerto Rico law firm and previously as an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York. With more than four decades of experience since entering practice in 1984, he has advised clients on high-value and complex transactions across Puerto Rico, the United States, and Latin America. He became Senior Counsel of the Firm in 2020.
His practice focuses on corporate law, finance, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, and commercial lending. In the capital markets and finance space, he has participated in numerous municipal and corporate debt and equity offerings, representing issuers, underwriters, trustees, and credit enhancers. His experience includes a wide range of transactions involving the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and its instrumentalities, as well as conduit and other capital market transactions for publicly traded companies, investment companies, nonprofit institutions, hospitals and universities.
In the mergers and acquisitions arena, Julio has served as lead counsel in major Puerto Rico transactions, including bank acquisitions and leveraged buyouts, and regularly advises on cross-border deals requiring coordination across multiple jurisdictions. He also has extensive experience in commercial lending, representing both borrowers and lenders in complex, multimillion-dollar financings, and is known for anticipating regulatory, credit, and market considerations in structuring transactions.
