Summer
Associate
Program
Overview.
Our Summer Associate Program ("SAP") is one of preeminent and most highly regarded law student internship programs in Puerto Rico.
With our first summer associates employed in the 1970’s, the SAP allows first and second year law students the opportunity to learn
and experience the practice of law by working in different types of tasks involving a variety of legal issues under the supervision of
one or more attorneys. The SAP promotes this goal by requiring our summer associates to rotate through our three main departmental practice
areas: Corporate, Litigation, and Labor & Employment. By the end of the Program, our summer associates acquire a realistic experience of life as
a full time associate. It also provides summer associates with the opportunity to develop their working skills and professional demeanor, while
providing a chance to observe the Firm's work ethics and culture.
Our summer associates, to the extent possible, are exposed and are invited to observe client hearings, depositions, commercial transactions, legal
seminars, as well as participate in the drafting of legal documents, development of legal strategies and attending meetings with clients.
The SAP runs for approximately eight-weeks during the months of June and July.
Requirements.
Applicants must be fluent in both English and Spanish and must have approved at least one year of law school by the time the Summer Program is expected to commence.
Applications must be submitted no later than October 15 of the year prior to your expected participation in the program. Applications must be accompanied with résumé, undergraduate
transcript and writing samples in English and Spanish. Writing samples should not include form documents or documents signed by other persons. To the extent possible, samples should
relate to legal matters. First-year law students who may not yet have legal writings available in both languages may submit undergraduate work. Second-year law students must also forward
a law school transcript.
