Yldefonso López-Morales is a member in the Labor and Employment Law Department. He joined O'Neill & Borges LLC in 1999, and has been in private law practice since 1988. From 1987 to 1988 he served as Law Clerk to Puerto Rico Supreme Court Associate Justice, Honorable Antonio S. Negrón-García.
Mr. López-Morales' practice includes advising and assisting employers in connection with collective bargaining negotiations, union campaigns, and unfair labor practice charges. Mr. López-Morales also represents employers in labor and employment related litigation and arbitration proceedings before the local and federal courts, and before administrative agencies, including in connection with claims for all types of employment discrimination, sexual harassment, defamation, wrongful termination, privacy rights, drug testing, and wage and hour claims. Mr. López-Morales also represents employers in union representation and unfair labor practice proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board and the Puerto Rico Labor Relations Board. Recently, these efforts have included successful assistance to employers in the hotel, retail, security and transportation industries, in connection with representation elections before the National Labor Relations Board.
A select group of artists have relied on Mr. López-Morales' expertise in handling issues related to their musicians, employees and contract negotiations.
Mr. López-Morales is an active member of the Labor Law Committee of the Puerto Rico Bar Association, and the Industrial Relations Committee of the Puerto Rico Manufacturers' Association. For the last 15 years, he has been a frequent speaker for several organizations, such as the Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM), the Puerto Rico Chamber of Commerce and the Puerto Rico Manufacturer's Association, on the entire spectrum of labor and employment topics, including union avoidance and maintaining a union-free workplace.
