PROFILE

Salvador J. Antonetti-Stutts is a partner in the Litigation Department. He joined O'Neill & Borges in 2008. He has extensive trial and appellate litigation experience in both Commonwealth and Federal courts, on a wide variety of substantive matters, ranging from antitrust and trade regulation to intellectual property to civil rights and criminal law.

Upon graduation from the University of Chicago Law School in 1994, Mr. Antonetti clerked for the Hon. Antonio S. Negrón-García, Associate Justice of the Puerto Rico Supreme Court. From 1995 to 1997, he worked as law clerk to the Hon. Daniel R. Domínguez, U.S. District Judge for the District of Puerto Rico. He thereafter clerked for the Hon. Juan R. Torruella, then-Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Upon concluding the latter clerkship in 1998, Mr. Antonetti joined the litigation department of a local firm, where he worked on a variety of commercial litigation matters. In 2001, he went to join the Puerto Rico Department of Justice as Director of its Federal Litigation Division, where he supervised a team of twelve attorneys entrusted with the defense of the Commonwealth government and its officers from civil rights suits in federal court. In 2003, he returned to private practice in a local firm, where he again concentrated on commercial litigation matters.

From 2005 to 2008, Mr. Antonetti was the Solicitor General of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. As Solicitor General, he supervised a team of thirty-five attorneys who handled all of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico's litigation before the Puerto Rico and United States Supreme Courts, as well as before the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals and various U.S. Courts of Appeals. He personally argued a wide variety of cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit and the Puerto Rico Court of Appeals.

Mr. Antonetti has also served as an adjunct professor at the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, where he has taught a course on Legal Research and Writing, and a seminar on government litigation.
