Julio Pietrantoni

Julio Pietrantoni is a former member and now a Senior Counsel in the Corporate Department.  He joined O’Neill & Borges in 1999 and has been in private law practice since 1984. Prior to joining O’Neill & Borges, he was a partner at another major Puerto Rico law firm. Before that, he worked as an associate at Cravath, Swaine & Moore in New York.

Julio’s practice for over 35 years has focused on corporate and public finance, mergers and acquisitions, and commercial lending. In the finance area, he has been involved in numerous offerings of municipal securities and corporate debt and equity securities in Puerto Rico, the United States and Latin America, representing underwriters, issuers, bond trustees, letter of credit issuers and other credit enhancers. Since returning to Puerto Rico, he has participated in dozens of municipal securities offerings by the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and its instrumentalities, conduit financings, and offerings by publicly-traded corporations, investment companies, and non-profit hospitals and universities.

In the mergers and acquisitions area, Julio has been involved in several major transactions, including three Puerto Rico bank acquisitions, and various leveraged buyouts and other Puerto Rico M&A transactions in which he acted as lead counsel. He has also participated in many transactions involving multiple jurisdictions in which he acted as Puerto Rico counsel.

In the commercial lending area, Julio has worked in numerous multi-million bank financings representing both borrowers and lenders, including most of the banks currently doing business in Puerto Rico.

Julio has been consistently listed in Chambers as a leading lawyer for corporate and commercial transactions.
